Mernagh predicts the repeal of marihuana prohibition within the next two years. The Liberals have made cannabis legalization a high priority and the mandatory minimums for marijuana growing will put plenty of non violent people in prison if becomes Prime Minister and does nothing. Legalization has to happen much sooner than the other predictions which don’t account for the current trends.
Whoever the next prime minister is, if repeal doesn’t happen within three years of their term of office, they risk putting more people in prison for pot than the Conservative government that created the legislation.
