WNY girl dies waiting for med marijuana

Anna Conte is the second child in about a week’s time to die from seizures while waiting for the medical marijuana.

Back in December: we first introduced you to a little girl named Anna Conte. She suffered from severe seizures.

Her parents and doctors wanted to give her medical marijuana, which worked wonders for other kids with her condition.

But it was illegal.

Anna and her family fought hard to get a law passed: to allow the medicine. But it didn’t take effect in time for Anna.

She passed away Thursday evening due to complications from a seizure she suffered more than a week ago. She’s the second child in about a week’s time to die from seizures while waiting for the medical marijuana.

On Facebook her mom Wendy said that Anna is “flying with the angels and most importantly she is seizure free forever.”

A wake for Anna will take place Monday and Tuesday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. each day at Browns Funeral Home in Orchard Park. Her funeral will take place Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in West Seneca.

A fund has been set up in Anna’s memory. You can donate to the For the Love of Anna Needs Fund at any M&T branch in WNY.
