Ottawa-area car rental shop notices weird odour in lost and found, realizes driver left a solid brick of hash in car
When staff at the Enterprise Rent-a-Car outlet in Hawkesbury, Ont., came across some items in a returned vehicle this month, they were hardly surprised. Customers forget belongings all the time.So the staff followed their usual process of storing the items for safekeeping in case the client came back for them.
A few days later, however, an employee detected an unusual odour emanating from a pouch that was among the items, and decided to call the nearby Ontario Provincial Police detachment in Hawkesbury, which is one hour east of Ottawa.
“Officers attended the car rental centre and seized the item, which was revealed to be approximately one kilogram of hashish, in a solid brick form,” the OPP said in a release.
No arrests have been made, but police said their investigation continues.
