A Cannabis Day protest at the Vancouver Art Gallery turned violent and led to arrests amid a heavy police presence Wednesday afternoon.

Protesters and police were seen pushing and shoving and Vancouver Police officers took some protesters down to the ground. Witnesses also said police used pepper spray.

The City of Vancouver did not support the event and organizers were banned from setting up tents and a stage.
But that didn’t stop defiant marijuana law protesters from showing up in large numbers at the Art Gallery.
It is not clear if any of the protestors arrested will be charged.
