Bong thwarts attempted robbery at pot dispensary: cops

It took a bong hit to thwart an attempted robbery at a marijuana dispensary.
Canadian police said a pot dispensary clerk fought off would-be thieves Thursday by wielding a bong at them in the Ontario store, CBC News reported.
Surveillance footage released Tuesday showed four suspects attacking two workers with bear spray at Recreational Cannabis Farmers Market in Shannonville.
The male clerk can be seen running from behind the counter, swinging a bong at the men until they left the store, according to CBC.
Authorities said the men fled in a vehicle.

Man Fights Off 4 Bear Spray Wielding Attackers During Cannabis Store Robbery
Thursday, Sept. 6th, 2018 at approximately 4:00 PM, four males, believed to be of middle eastern decent entered the Recreational Cannabis Farmers Market situated on Old Highway 2 in Shannonville. Three of the males entered the store with their faces covered while brandishing canisters of bear spray. They were met with great resistance by the store clerk and despite being sprayed with Bear Spray, the clerk who is from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory managed to successfully fight them off and force them from the store. The suspects then fled the scene westbound on Old Highway 2 in a white SUV. OPP Forensic Identification Unit came in to provide assistance and collected valuable evidence from the scene.

Bong-wielding clerk thwarts pot shop robbers
A clerk at a cannabis dispensary in Shannonville, Ont., used a bong to fight off a gang of would-be thieves who attacked him with bear spray, Tyendinaga police say.
Police say four men arrived at the Recreational Cannabis Farmers Market on Old Highway 2 in a white Mazda SUV around 4 p.m. last Thursday.
While one waited in the vehicle, three of the suspects entered the store with their faces covered.
A security videos shows the suspects approaching a man and woman standing behind the counter, then squirting them with what appears to be bear spray. The male clerk came from behind the counter and fought the men off, swinging a bong at them until they fled from the store.
2nd incident in 2 weeks
The men escaped in their vehicle were last seen westbound on Old Highway 2. OPP forensic investigators attended the scene to collect evidence.
Det.-Const. Nathan Leland of the Tyendinaga Police Service said it’s not the first time dispensaries in the area have been targeted.
“This would be our second robbery in the past two weeks,” Leland said.
Shannonville is about 65 kilometres west of Kingston, Ont.
